Lisa Tannert is a creative entrepreneur, inspirational speaker, and mentor. She graduated magna cum laude from SUNY Plattsburgh with a bachelor of science degree in education, which led to a multi-state teaching career that culminated in work with a nonprofit that is transforming teaching and learning, empowering educators to bring innovative practices to their classrooms to motivate, challenge, and inspire the diverse learners and leaders of the future.

Lisa is opening hearts one mind at a time with her Modern Fairy Tales column on Substack where she’s reframing recovery as a hero’s journey. An emerging memoirist and thought leader, Lisa believes in “happily ever after,” no matter the obstacles. She has twenty years of experience empowering women using the principles of twelve-step recovery and A Course in Miracles. Her debut memoir, Soul, Eclipsed, won the 2023 Modern Muse for Writers Fall Contest and was longlisted for the 2022 Memoir Prize for Books. Excerpts have been finalists for the Barry Lopez Nonfiction Prize, shortlisted for the Lascaux Prize in Creative Nonfiction, and published in print and online literary journals. She lives in Northern California with her husband and son.
